Japanese operator Rakuten Mobile(楽天グループ)certification testing process
1、 Introduction to Rakuten Mobile
Rakuten Mobile, a well-known Mobile network operator in Japan, was founded in 2018 and is affiliated to Rakuten Group. Rakuten Mobile provides 4G LTE and 5G network services.
2、 The certification typically required for chips, modules, and terminal devices to access Rakuten Mobile networks
(1) GCF certification: Chips, modules, and terminal devices need to pass GCF certification to demonstrate their compatibility in the network of chips, modules, and terminal devices.
(2) PTCRB Certification: PTCRB is a North American mobile device certification organization that requires chips, modules, and terminal devices to pass PTCRB certification to meet the requirements of the North American market.
(3) RoHS compliance certification: The module needs to comply with the RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances Directive) requirements to ensure its environmental compliance.
(4) Regulatory certification in Japan, radio wave law certification in Telec, telecommunications law certification in Jate, security certification in PSE, etc. are prerequisites for Japanese operators.
3、 Test items that usually need to be done
(1) FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) test: Test whether the device can safely receive and install firmware updates from Rakuten Mobile.
