Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0)
On June 17, 2016, the new Bluetooth standard came out. The standard number is not 4.3 which is a little more than 4.2, but Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0)! According to past practice, from 2.0 to 3.0 to 4.0, the first number changes are new standards with major changes. The name of Bluetooth 5 is indeed much simpler.
In fact, the development of Bluetooth is regular, and the core is to update the standard around "faster, farther, and more power-saving". According to the current information, all updates are the evolution of BLE technology, the classic Bluetooth BREDR will not change, and the new standard Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) will be released in the second half of 2016 to early 2017. The Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) mentioned by the Bluetooth organization currently has the following important information:
(1) The transmission distance of the Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) standard will be four times the current distance, and the transmission distance will be farther. Conventional Bluetooth technology can be used within 10 meters, and 4 times is within 40 meters. It can cover most houses and individual stores. The greater the coverage of wireless technology, the more things you can do, and it is estimated to be expanded to a greater extent. The range requires a BLE small base station.
(2) The transmission rate of the Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) standard will be twice the current rate (in fact, the rate for BLE has been included in the working group proposal 3 years ago), and the transmission rate is faster. According to the current BLE rate is about 1M, twice is 2M. The higher the speed, the faster the connection response, the more things you can do, and the more powerful the functional content will be.
(3) The broadcast channel capacity of Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) is expanded by 8 times, which is a bit confusing. According to the current BLE working method, there are 3 fixed frequencies used for broadcasting, and the broadcasting channel is fixed. Its function is to broadcast some information of the equipment in the public space, so that other equipment can search for what it is and whether to go to it. connect it or something. The broadcast channel capacity is 8 times larger, which means that there are more things that can be broadcast, and more and clearer information can be searched without connection, which is called connectionless broadcast.
(4) Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) has more powerful IoT functions. Farther and higher rates mean that more and more things can be connected to the network through Bluetooth. It is possible to connect houses, stores, and warehouses into an overall network to create smart home store warehouses.
(5) Bluetooth 5 (Bluetooth 5.0) indoor navigation and positioning function. Nowadays, more and more human activities are in large indoor spaces, such as subways, railway stations, airports, shopping malls, warehouses, and factory areas. Indoors can’t use GPS and the like, so Bluetooth 5.0 wants to send point information through beacons (ordinary Bluetooth is a point-to-point connection, and beacons can be connected or not connected to point-to-multipoint broadcast information)!
